PhotoJournalism Assignment Photography

PhotoJournalism and assignment photography is on a bid or offer by speculation and contract basis.  Pricing on an offer and acceptance basis is ordinarily based on the client's standard freelance terms rather than on a fixed per image rate.

You will own all of the photographic images as well as all rights thereto, except that unless otherwise stated in writing, I may use photographs I take of your wedding for my own display advertising and at my expense. Your wedding is no place for a wannabe photographer or amateur.

Like many commercial photographers, we began shooting weddings for a large studio several years ago and while we do not have time to do as many weddings as we would like we still enjoy weddings very much because they are such positive and fun events especially when compared with covering news stories and tragedies around the world. 

We do not believe in negative advertising or in criticizing our competition and you will never hear us do so.  We know how good we are; how fast, experienced, talented, and adept we are, and so will you.  Enough said.

Today, many wedding photographers still sell albums and the average album wedding job by a professional working photographer in the Southwest is well in excess of $2,000.00.  However, many album manufacturers who at one time sold their products only to working professionals have found it necessary to sell to the general public as well.  Therefore, you can find wedding photography albums on line as easily as I can so it is pointless for me to order albums only to sell them to you.

We use multiple lighting and we shoot digitally unless you prefer film - you must let us know when you hire us if you prefer film.  We provide you with two copies of every photography we take, on CDs for you to make reprints anywhere and anytime.  We recommend that you store your master CDs separate from your prints in the event of water or other damage.  Following Hurricane Katrina we expect our New Orleans wedding clients are glad we make this recommendation.

The PRICE is $700.00 and generally includes 6 consecutive hours of wedding day coverage.  We also offer a price for the ceremony and formals only because nowadays and to save money many couples hand their guests single use cameras to shoot the reception. The price for the wedding ceremony and formals is $300.00 and generally includes 3 consecutive hours of wedding day coverage.

Almost all product photography today is done digitally.  We will shoot digital, film or transparencies.  The choice is yours.  You will receive 2 CDs containing high resolution images, and you will own the copyright except that, unless otherwise stated in writing, I may use photographs I take of your products for my own display advertising and at my expense.

We excel in extreme close-up or macro photography of rare coins, stamps, other products and collectibles, including the inner workings of many small objects. 

A WORD OF CAUTION:  Many people will shoot your products against a stark white background and add background or other color to your images later, in the computer.  While computer enhancing is a wonderful tool, the more that is done in camera when the image is made, the more profound computer enhancement can be and the less quality degradation there will be because there will be fewer generations of each print. And generational degradation may significantly reduce the impact of your images.  Additionally, the more your products are enhanced in-camera, rather than later by computer, the greater the benefit of additional computer enhancing will be whether you do it or I do it. Every image on these sample pages, including the Mug Shots, was completed entirely in-camera.  The hand-painted earth tone and Super-Brite backgrounds found on the mug shots page and other sample pages, are actual backgrounds and are not computer added.  No sample image on these pages is computer enhanced in any manner, except where text is added over an image.  All photography pricing is factored on our basic commercial day rate which is $725.00

Images on CDs can either be RAW or in more traditional JPEG format, or in another format for your convenience.

Tips

Always hire a professional, working, photographer, not a wannabe.

Although I have done quite a bit of model, glamour and fashion photography, because of time we only shoot friends and relatives unless fashion photography is part of a larger job.
